THIS IS THE LIST YOU NEED: Key trends in TOP COUNTRY this week
When I started to put together the weekly COUNTRY BUZZ TOP 10 listings (see below), I could not imagine the impact that the ten artists on the list have on EVERY OTHER single move in the country music industry. If you follow the moves in the industry, you need to know who is on this list (and why!) to fully understand the wonderful world of country music. Here are some of the top key trends to understand the contemporary country music movement:
COUNTRY DOMINATES BILLBOARD 200: Zach Bryan and Morgan Wallen hold the top two spots on the all-genre Billboard 200, marking the first time since February 2024 that country albums captured both positions.
ELLA LANGLEY'S UNSTOPPABLE RUN: Fourth consecutive week at #1 on the MusicRow chart with "Choosin' Texas," while maintaining a historic #1 Billboard Hot Country Songs position — a potential "song of summer 2026."
WOMEN'S MOVEMENT INTENSIFIES: Ella Langley, Lainey Wilson, and Megan Moroney are leading the charge with major tours, chart dominance, and industry recognition as Moroney declares, "we're giving the guys a run for their money."
TOUR SEASON MOMENTUM: Eric Church, Blake Shelton (Vegas residency), and Rascal Flatts are all active, while Morgan Wallen and Megan Moroney build massive buzz for spring tour launches.
HISTORIC MILESTONES: Chris Stapleton's "Tennessee Whiskey" achieves Double Diamond (20M units), only the third song from all genres to reach this achievement; Miranda Lambert's catalog was acquired by Sony Music Publishing.

IN / OUT and About
IN right now:
The best merchandise for all cowgirls and cowboys right now is from the shop of young mandolin virtuoso Wyatt Ellis. Touching the very core of country culture—the small-town romantics—“You can tell I’m from the Country.” Yes, we can!
"This land is my land, this land is your land." Bruce Springsteen is country music (and blues and soul and rock ‘n’ roll) as ever on the epic masterpiece “Streets of Minneapolis.”
In times like these, remember the Swedish protest singer Joe Hill, who built the great tradition of North American protest artistry. Zach Bryan, Jesse Welles, etc.—they all get the job done right now. More to follow soon.
OUT right now:
ICE in the streets of Minneapolis. And Ice, ice, baby on the streets of Nashville (pictures from the ice storm hitting Music City recently were something else!).
