Don’t let the old man in. BUT George Strait is always welcome. Everywhere, anytime.
The best of the best is still alive and kicking out there. There seems to be no way to stop the ongoing rise of the country music phenomenon that is George Strait. This week, he powers his way into a Top 5 position on my beloved, fascinating, and essential weekly list: the Country Buzz Top 10.
Using a highly sophisticated digital system, I scan more online country media every week than you could ever dream of plowing through. My goal? To uncover the real statistics behind who people are talking about most right now and why.
Many names "subscribe" to spots on this list for periods of time, and the real interest lies in watching them fly up and down and understanding the catalysts behind those movements. Taken as a whole, the list provides an excellent "helicopter view" for anyone who wants to stay in the loop with everything happening in the wide world of country music.
This week, it was thrilling and heartening to finally see George Strait back on the list. He isn’t called "The King of Country" for nothing, and he’s been a personal favorite of mine since the 1990s. Do yourself a favor and listen to a George Strait album today, any of them. It’ll improve your quality of life.
Fellow Texan Miranda Lambert also makes a welcoming comeback to the list.

📈 Week’s key trends 📉
Cloud 9 Dominates Everything: Megan Moroney’s third album, Cloud 9 (released Feb 20), defined the week entirely on its own. A Spotify-exclusive release event in NYC, star-studded features with Ed Sheeran and Kacey Musgraves, reviews from Paste Magazine and Apple Music, viral romance speculation involving Riley Green, and an arena tour kicking off May 29, all in a single week. No other artist in modern country has dominated a news cycle this totally in a long time.
Tour Announcement Tsunami: The week of February 19–25 set a new record for tour announcements. Brooks & Dunn extended their Neon Moon Tour with 14 headlining arena shows (Feb 24), Darius Rucker unveiled the Songs of Summer Tour hitting 20 cities (Feb 24), and Bailey Zimmerman’s Different Night, Same Rodeo Tour officially kicked off on February 19. Combined with Zach Bryan’s With Heaven On Tour starting in 10 days, the country summer of 2026 is now literally sold out.
Radio Crowns Wallen - Again: Morgan Wallen’s "20 Cigarettes" hit #1 on Mediabase Country Radio on February 23, while I’m the Problem reclaimed the top spot on the Billboard Country Albums chart for its 38th non-consecutive week. It’s a stark reminder that Wallen, even during Megan Moroney’s massive album week, continues to dominate the airwaves with a frequency unprecedented in the genre's history.
Hall of Fame Double in Austin: The joint induction of George Strait and Miranda Lambert into the Texas Heritage Songwriters Hall of Fame on February 21 at a sold-out ACL Live in Austin was the week's heartbeat for traditional fans. Seeing "The King" and one of the genre’s most uncompromising songwriters honored in the same ceremony, both remaining vital forces in 2026, sent a clear signal that heritage and the modern era live side-by-side.
Business Reshuffling Continues: Shaboozey’s publishing deal with EMPIRE (Feb 23) and the ongoing restructuring of Blue Highway Records (formerly BMLG under HYBE AMERICA) under new CEO Jake Basden illustrate that Nashville’s business landscape is being redrawn in real-time. When one of the genre’s hottest artists chooses an indie over a major, it signals a shift in the direction of power.
ACM Machinery Fires Up: Riley Green’s confirmation as headliner for ACM Lifting Lives Country on the Green on May 15 (announced Feb 23), with pre-sales opening February 25, signals that the ACM Awards ecosystem is in full swing. Green’s selection for this role highlights his evolution into an institutional force, not just a viral phenomenon.
Legends Live - And Tour: The extension of Brooks & Dunn’s Neon Moon Tour, featuring a UK premiere at C2C in March and eight stadium shows with Morgan Wallen this summer, is a phenomenon in itself. This isn't just nostalgia, these are Hall of Famers actively competing on 2026 terms. The same applies to George Strait and Eric Church, both of whom dominated the news this week without even having an album on the immediate horizon.

🚀 BUZZ
Megan holds the crown as King George enters this week’s Buzz list.
Generated: February 25. (Capturing the buzz for the period February 19 – February 25)

1. Megan Moroney [↔]
Buzz Score: 99/100
Why She's Hot: Megan Moroney owns the country music conversation this week without question. Cloud 9, her third studio album, dropped Friday, February 20, via Columbia Records/Sony Music Nashville, and the response has been overwhelming. Streaming numbers surged immediately, album reviews poured in from Paste Magazine, Apple Music, and dozens of outlets praising her diary-like songwriting and the star-studded features with Ed Sheeran ("I Only Miss You") and Kacey Musgraves ("Bells & Whistles"). On February 24, Spotify hosted an exclusive NYC release event for the album, a major label stamp of approval. Adding celebrity gossip fuel to the fire, Riley Green appeared to react to the album on social media, sending the internet into speculation overdrive about whether songs are directed at him. Her Cloud 9 arena tour (kicking off May 29 in Columbus, Ohio) is already generating serious ticket demand as she scales to the next level of the genre. And those of my subscribers who, like me, live in Sweden — don't have to wait long either: Megan brings the Cloud 9 tour to Stockholm on September 15.
2. Morgan Wallen [↑+5]
Buzz Score: 91/100
Why He's Hot: Morgan Wallen delivered the biggest chart news of the week on February 23 when "20 Cigarettes" officially hit #1 on the Mediabase Country Radio chart, dethroning Jason Aldean's "How Far Does A Goodbye Go" and ranking as the most played and most heard song in the February 15–21 tracking period. Simultaneously, I'm the Problem returned to the top of the Billboard Top Country Albums chart for its 38th nonconsecutive week, an absolutely staggering run of sustained dominance. With his Still The Problem Stadium Tour launching April 10 (23 dates, 12 cities), Wallen is entering his busiest stretch of 2026 with full momentum.
3. Ella Langley [↓-1]
Buzz Score: 86/100
Why She's Hot: Ella Langley holds strong in the top tier this week as "Choosin' Texas" locks in the #2 position on the Mediabase Country Radio chart, her reign near the top now extending across multiple weeks. With her sophomore album Dandelion set for April 10 and her recent single "Be Her" still in active rotation, she is the most consistent buzz engine in the genre right now outside of Moroney's album week. She also remains on active duty as support on Eric Church's Free the Machine Tour through the end of February. The anticipation around Dandelion continues to build, and fans are watching closely to see if she can match "Choosin' Texas" with the next single from the project.
4. Luke Combs [↓-1]
Buzz Score: 82/100
Why He's Hot: Luke Combs' empire keeps expanding. Coverage of his Category 10 Universal Orlando announcement (Feb 17) continued to generate headlines across theme park, entertainment, and country music media throughout the week, with a 33,000 square-foot, three-story venue coming to CityWalk in late 2027. His album The Way I Am arrives March 20, now less than four weeks away, with the 22-song tracklist, Alison Krauss feature, and "Be By You" single continuing to build anticipation. His My Kinda Saturday Night Stadium Tour kicks off March 21 at Allegiant Stadium, making him the most imminent major album + tour combo in the genre right now.
5. George Strait [NEW]
Buzz Score: 77/100
Why He's Hot: The King of Country made his first appearance in the weekly buzz rankings with a landmark night at ACL Live in Austin on February 21, when he was inducted into the Texas Heritage Songwriters Hall of Fame at the sold-out 20th annual ceremony, alongside Miranda Lambert, the late Keith Gattis, and Don Cook. For an artist who rarely needs news cycles to maintain legendary status, the induction generated widespread coverage in both trade and mainstream media, with Saving Country Music running a deep-dive on the nuances of his songwriting legacy and MusicRow covering the ceremony. The induction ceremony sold out well in advance, underscoring the enduring demand for anything Strait-related in Texas.
6. Shaboozey [NEW]
Buzz Score: 73/100
Why He's Hot: Shaboozey made a significant business move this week, signing a publishing deal with EMPIRE, expanding the relationship that launched his record-breaking career. The deal was covered by both Billboard and MusicRow on February 23, with EMPIRE's leadership calling his songwriting "the creative foundation" of his success. Meanwhile, his "Amen" collaboration with Jelly Roll climbed to #3 on the Mediabase Country Radio chart for the February 15–21 tracking period, a genuine chart mover. His Grammy win buzz continues to sustain background heat, and his Extra Innings Festival appearance (February 27–28 in Tempe, AZ) gives him an immediate live visibility moment heading into the weekend.
7. Zach Bryan [↓-1]
Buzz Score: 68/100
Why He's Hot: Zach Bryan's With Heaven On Tour launches in just ten days, March 7, and the pre-tour buzz machine is running at full speed. With Heaven On Top continues to hold territory on the Billboard 200 and charts strong on streaming platforms. Gavin Adcock's mysterious new collaboration teased this week, which fans are heavily speculating involves either Bryan, Morgan Wallen, or Ella Langley, kept his name circulating in social media conversations. Bryan remains the #1 songwriter on MusicRow's Top Songwriter Chart (all songs solo-penned), a testament to his creative output and continued radio and streaming footprint as the tour countdown ticks.
8. Riley Green [NEW]
Buzz Score: 63/100
Why He's Hot: Riley Green has had one of the most dramatic buzz weeks of any artist in the Top 10. The ACM Awards details announcement on February 23 confirmed he will headline the ACM Lifting Lives Country on the Green event on May 15 at Topgolf Las Vegas, a prestigious, charity-focused event that puts him squarely at the center of ACM Awards week. Pre-sale tickets went live February 25. On top of that, a Parade feature reporting that Green "seemingly reacted" to Megan Moroney's Cloud 9 album, with their rumored romance fueling fan speculation, generated an enormous social media footprint and celebrity gossip coverage that extended his reach well beyond the country core audience this week.
9. Miranda Lambert [NEW]
Buzz Score: 59/100
Why She's Hot: Miranda Lambert stepped back into the national spotlight this week with her induction into the Texas Heritage Songwriters Hall of Fame on February 21 at ACL Live in Austin, the most decorated artist in ACM Awards history honored alongside George Strait for her body of songwriting work. Saving Country Music highlighted her co-writing credits on landmark songs including Chris Stapleton's "What Am I Gonna Do" and Ella Langley's "Choosin' Texas", currently sitting at #2 on country radio. The timing of that acknowledgment, with "Choosin' Texas" still dominating charts, gave the story an extra layer of contemporary relevance.
10. Jelly Roll [NEW]
Buzz Score: 55/100
Why He's Hot: Jelly Roll's "Amen" collaboration with Shaboozey climbed to #3 on the Mediabase Country Radio chart for the February 15–21 period, a meaningful chart gain that keeps both artists' names prominently in the radio conversation. His upcoming CRB Artist Humanitarian Award (to be presented at Country Radio Seminar March 18–20 in Nashville) continued to generate warm industry coverage in trade media. His BIG ASS Stadium Tour Part 2 with Post Malone (April launch) maintains pre-sale buzz in the background, and his Grammy win from February 1 still adds credibility halo to his weekly presence.
Methodology Note: Rankings based on aggregated signals from 10+ country news sources (MusicRow, Saving Country Music, Taste of Country, Holler, Country Standard Time, and more) plus streaming charts (Spotify/Apple Music), TikTok trends, radio airplay (Mediabase/MusicRow CountryBreakout), social media engagement, and Billboard chart data over February 19-25.
